Greenpeace has released its first batch of submarine footage from a part of the seafloor in the Antarctic Ocean never previously visited by humans, which shows a seafloor ‘carpeted
with life’, as well as ‘clear indications of a vulnerable marine ecosystem’. The footage itself forms the first part of a tranche of evidence which is being gathered by independent scientists during Greenpeace’s Antarctic expedition to support and strengthen calls for marine protection in the Antarctic.
